Discovery has been giving details of its upcoming UK HDTV channel which is expected to launch next year on digital satellite along with Sky's HD channels. In an interview in Broadcast magazine, which was picked up by Digital Spy, it announced plans for a 24-hour station provisionally called 'Discovery HD Theatre.'
'Discovery wants to be seen as the home of high definition when it comes to real world factual programming,' Don Baer, senior executive vice president for strategy and development of Discovery Communications, told the magazine. Among the topics the new channel will cover are culture, travel, history, wildlife and lifestyle programming.
