JVC might not yet have got round to launching a HDTV camcorder for consumers. But we do know that a HD version of its hard disk based Everio cam is on the cards. Also it has delivered a new High Def camcorder for professionals in the guise of the 1/3-inch 3-CCD GY-HD100E. The new cam captures 720p images not 1080i, however JVC says that images can be converted into interlaced format (1080i) without degradation. The model features compatibility with many pro lenses, and stores footage on Mini DV tapes. It is expected to retail for around £3500.
Canon recently launched its first HD camcorder the XL H1. More details here
