Yesterday I got the chance to play with the debut Media Centre PC from those CE stalwarts Philips, the MCP9350i, and I must say that I really quite impressed. The design is very living room - maybe they are using the frame from those old Philips V2000 VCRs - and the controls and the socketry are spot on. The HD performance was excellent too. The company had some HD footage on the PC's hard drive and was outputting a 1080i signal. It’ll be interesting to see how many other Media Center PCs come along in the next few months which their makers will hype as HD-friendly.
