CES 2006: Cheap-ish 70inch rear proj set
Predictably we've seen lots of great looking flat screens at CES, most of them showing superb high def American football/baseball etc. off ESPN's HD channel. Problem is if you want a 70inch plasma it's going to cost you a small fortune. However, Chinese company Konka - the winner of this year's comedy name award - is showing a 70inch LCOS HD (1080p) rear projection model which seems to offer pretty good picture quality. The company reckons it will be on the market in the US by the end of 2006 for just $5000. At the moment Konka is still looking for European distribution but imagine if you could get a 70inch screen for just 3000 of your English pounds. Sounds good to us.
