MatrixStream offers High Definition IPTV
Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is steadily taking off as an alternative, or addition to existing digital terrestrial, cable and satellite services, but the High Definition versions are taking a little longer to arrive. One company to be showing off an HD IPTV system is US based MatrixStream with its IMX 1020 HD. The box looks comparable in size to a Mac mini and can stream H.264 and MPEG 4 part 10 480P, 720P and 1080i high definition videos as well as accessing the same quality Video On Demand services.
Importantly, the technology doesn’t require enormously fast internet connections and MatrixStream even claims that it could work over wireless connections – but you’ll probably have to wait a bit longer for things to load up. There’s a quite entertaining video podcast explaining it all but unfortunately it’s in Italian so if there are some important details in there that I’ve missed please let me know.
There aren’t too many details on the content available through the service yet, but you can try out a demo of the PC player here. Be aware that it will require a reasonably fast processor and there isn’t a great deal of HD content in there, but it is proof that the system works.
More details on pricing and availability as soon as I hear them.

Hi,
Very nice article. Hopefully IPTV will "rollout" through out the world... sooner than later.
