These are the brilliantly named Wooo 9000 series plasma and LCD HDTVs. Each comes with an impressive four internal tuners (2 x digital, 2 x analogue) to let your telly act like a PVR. Hitachi's four plasma models come in 37” and 42”, whilst the LCDs consist of two 32” models.
The exact degree of High Definition to which these TVs go is a little unclear; the plasmas apparently are capable of 1,024 x 1,080 resolution, which doesn’t quite add up to 1080i as far as I know. Hopefully that will be clarified nearer the launch. The smaller LCDs, however, look more obviously aimed 720p.
Not all the models actually come with a hard drive but you can sensibly opt for those with a built-in 250GB hard disk. Other tech specs include a 178 degree viewing angle, SRS 3D Wow audio, SD card slot and Ethernet port.
Expect to see these shipping at the end of the month, prices haven’t been officially revealed but they’ll probably be in the region of £1,700 to £2,500.
