The projectiondesign Achtung! Action! Model 2 looks like a pretty serious piece of HD projection kit. It uses DLP technology enhanced by DarkChip3 to improve colour and offer a massive contrast ratio of over 4000:1. Brightness goes up to 1000 lumens and it boasts 16.8 million colours.
To make it HD-Ready it offers one HDCP enabled DVI slot as well as normal VGA, Composite and S-Video inputs and it will display up to 1080p resolution. To ensure that it doesn’t interrupt your HD TV viewing bliss it runs at a “whisper-quiet” 24dB and manages a pretty compact form-factor with dimensions of 234 x 278 x 94 mm – the pic puts it in pretty good context. Unsurprisingly, it is pretty expensive at £3,500 but compared to what you can pay for DLP projectors, that doesn’t seem so bad.
