The HD DVD format could gain an advantage as there are reports of Stateside delays for the Blu-ray format.
Samsung has delayed the launch of its Blu-ray DVD player by one month, to June 25th.
"We still anticipate that the Samsung BD-P1000 will be the first Blu-ray player to launch at a national level in the United Sates," Samsung said in a statement.
Sony is set to release Blu-ray players by July.
