Is Sky's Premiership monopoly loss bad for HD?

Setanta An interesting discussion has been unfolding on the Digital Spy HD forum regarding Setanta's recent win of two English Premiership football packages.

The original argument is that Setanta, who currently only broadcast in standard definition 4:3 aspect ratio, will lower the overall standard of pay football coverage.

Sky will show all of their 92 games in HD.

Of course, by the start of the 2007/8 season, Setanta could well have upgraded their facilities to transmit in high-definition.
