If there’s one thing that could hope to out do the World Cup in HD in its appeal to men, it is probably Playboy. The Playboy Entertainment Group and sub-division Playboy TV has just announced a new scheme to increase the production of High Definition programming from its 108,000 square foot facility outside Los Angeles.
Playboy is now feeding 16 on-air networks via satellite and cable worldwide and looks set to increase the production of HD content yet further. Although I can see how the likes of Playboy can capitalise on HD technology I don’t think some of the, ahem, lower-budget alternatives stand to gain much from dramatically enhanced picture clarity (in many cases the opposite is probably true).
However, pornography was heavily involved in the uptake of the early VHS format and I don’t think I need to explain just how large a part porn plays in the internet today – it often provides a good measure of the things to come in video media. Perhaps then Playboy’s rapid adoption of the technology is a promising sign for this latest advance in television, which has, outside the USA at least, been met with a fair amount of scepticism. Of course, our selfless HDTV UK researchers will be sure to keep a close eye on its progress for you.

More content needs to be made available and the HD quality picture of a playboy type shoot fits perfect together. Once you are used to watching HD its hard to watch anything else. In fact, its just painful!
I would have to aggree that we are in a resolution revolution and HD Adult will be the standard if more content is produced.
Let's face it, the porn industry is well-known for driving technology forward, so if it wants HD it will mean we all get it (HD that is)
