Samsung plan dual-format HD DVD player
As I've said previously, the biggest winners in the high-def DVD format war could be the companies that manufacture dual-format players.
Samsung could be one of them.
Though they've been known to support the Blu-ray format, their head of Consumer Electronics, Choi Gee-sung, is reported to have said that they will consider manufacturing players capable of reading both formats, if the two camps cannot unify the standard.
"It won't be simple but you'll see our solution in the coming year. Consumers will be too confused otherwise," he said in an interview with the Financial Times Deutschland.
Personally, I can't see the two formats unifying any time soon - but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
