It must be a great advantage having both entertainment and electronics divisions in your company.
Sony is seeking to
extend its market share in the
Mike Fasulo, Sony’s
chief marketing officer, said "One of the reasons to do this is to for
high definition: to explain what HD is via Blu-ray and establish it in the
marketplace,"
On top of that,
Sony have struck deals with key
Sport seems to have
a fairly universal appeal, with consumers having an interest in a wide-range of Sony’s
consumer electronics products also being sports fans.
Sports deals
include:
- 3 year agreement with the New York Yankees to rename the Stadium Club as the Sony Club.
- Outfitting the San Diego Padres ballpark with Sony HDTV displays.
- Sponsorship of NASCAR’s
Ryan Newman, including Sony HDTV logos and a cockpit installed with Vaio PCs, TVs, and other products to track races.
Sony
are certainly keen to get the word out about HD, and ensure everyone is using
Sony Blu-ray products.


Sony are so very very ugly.
Sony PS3 will flop in the UK .... at least while the price is so high it will.
People in this country are sick and tired of being fleeced by these corporate giant companies who then patronise people with their feeble explanations about the ridiculously high prices they want to charge.
People such as Bill Gates (with his outrageous pricing in the UK for vista)and this Maguire fella from Sony UK need to "get in" the real world.
