Toshiba, a well-known supporter of the HD DVD format, has updated its Qosmio G35 notebook computer to include a HD DVD player (it's also a standard DVD dual-layer writer).
Main features of interest for using it as a mobile entertainment device are:
- 17" diagonal widescreen display
- Supports 1080p content
- HDMI output for connection to external digital monitors/projectors
- DVD HD drive, supporting 11 formats (including CD/RW, DVD dual layer R/W, DVD HD single/dual R)
- TV Tuner (though not a high definition one)
- Pause live TV for 1-5 hours (subject to video quality)
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005
- Quick access for CD, DVD, and TV watching (no need to book Windows)
- 2x100GB hard drives
- 1-bit Digital Amplifier
- Built-in harman/kardon® Bass Reflex stereo speakers
- Dolby® Home TheaterTM Digital audio enhancements
- Remote control
It's due for release in the US later this week.
