Boris Ivanovich set up and manages Be Un Limited. If you're in London, Birmingham or Manchester you've probably seen ads for 24Meg broadband from these guys - you might even use their services.
I know, I know, this isn't directly related to HDTV, but we know that anything involving HD requires huge amounts of bandwidth. Most people's piddly 1, 2, or even 8 Meg broadband just won't cut it for TV-by-Internet and remote HD streaming.
There's an interesting interview over at New Media Age with Ivanovich, a multi-millionaire investing his own money in all those fun things a telecoms entrepreneur has to do: infiltrating BT, local-loop unbundling, you know the kind of thing.
Remote streaming for services like LocationFree or Slingbox will need fast upstream (home to Net) as well as downstream speeds. Be's aiming for that:
"We can combine lines so you can get multiples of 24Mbps, and we're working on the VDSL2, which will supersede ADSL by so much we reckon we'll soon be able to offer 100Mbps. This is the kind of service you'll need if you want to, say, stream HDTV in the home and watch it anywhere in the world."
Be's services should be available to most of Greater London, Manchester and Birmingham by the end of the year.
