Belkin will expand their PureAV range of audio-visual components in July with the release of a 3 to 1 HDMI video switch.
It connects up to three HDMI inputs, selectable either using the supplied remote control, or the input select button on the box.
We've already seen Accell's UltraAV HDMI switch that will connect two sources to one. These interconnect gadgets will become more prevalent as we all attempt to connect our HD-ready equipment to TVs and projectors with an inadequate number of HDMI input ports.
What do we end up with? More power plugs, and another remote control to lose or try to programme into those 'one for all' remotes.
Will three HDMI inputs be enough? As Belkin's press release says:
This Switch easily solves the problem of insufficient HDMI inputs caused by the quick and widespread adoption of HDMI in the marketplace. High-definition components that commonly feature the HDMI connector include TVs, up-converting DVD players, cable/satellite boxes, entertainment computers, the newly released Blu-ray(R) and HD-DVD players, and upcoming game consoles, PlayStation(R) 3 and Xbox(R) 360 (HDMI connection to come). People who own multiple digital-video devices can avoid a bottleneck at the HDTV's single HDMI port with this Switch.
Anyone for a 7 in 1 adapter?
In any case, for the modest HD consumer, the Belkin 3-in-1 HDMI switcher looks like a decent option, and will be released in the US in July with a suggested price tag of $199. It should make its way to Europe soon after. No word on official pricing but I'd be surprised if it came in at less than £150.

If you need an HDMI switcher . . . wait . . . there is a new product out in a couple of months which is reasonably priced, very high spec and packed with features.
Looks cool but expensive. I think Bafo is coming out switches as well. Take a look at their website: www.bafo.com
Yes, the Belkin range is good but expensive. My first preference would be to get a TV with at least three HDMI inputs and only get a switcher if necessary afterwards.
