Just getting your head around high-definition? Mastered your 720p, 1080i and 1080p? Just bought your new HD ready TV?
Well, developers are already working on the next generation of HD technology.
Ultra High-Definition Video has 16 times the resolution of the current 'standard' HDTV. In other words, four times the definition both horizontally and vertically.
The system also boasts 22.2 multichannel sound - whatever the heck that is. They describe it as 'big and immersive as the screen'.
It's still very much in the experimental stage; there are only two UHD cameras in the world. Even so, 20 years down the line, those clever bods at NHK Japan believe this will be standard in homes. By then, of course, we'll have Gigabit broadband too.
NHK is working on enhancements to our current HD. By adding a filter adaptor in front of HDTV, they have come up with...
...3D HDTV.
And not a flimsy pair of red and green glasses in sight. We hope.
Innovation, eh?

Technology like this would need massive upgrades in the field of storage as well. The Wikipedia entry for ultra high definition video states one minute of recorded footage totalled 194GB. That's pretty insane - as far as I know, TDK have managed to get Blu-ray up to 200GB by gluing 6 layers together. Imaging maxing out that within a minute! We might also need to degrade the quality somewhat as the article also states some people became nauseous due to the quality.
This is kinda old news, I remember reading about it at least 2 years ago!
Still awesome if they ever do it.
It's tough reporting some of this stuff because what's old-hat in Japan, followed by the US, is still pretty cuttung-edge to us.
(some Japanese cities already have Gigabit broadband, for example)
Last week I read a 'new' article from Australia reporting on some HD technology that was over 4 years old!
I suppose it not out of the question it would look hyper real I think they would use the new holographic storage something like 200gb a disc
or is that 200tb a disc which it maybe possible in the near future
Not sure what the capacity of the new holographic discs are but you're not going to fit much content on current HD discs.

HVD discs can hold up to 3,9 TB (3994 GB). Which can hold up to 20 mins of uncompressed UHDTV film. However this uncompressed so, it may be possible to get a film on one of these discs.
