A recent survey (the Click Parade) of the top 10 TVs searched for on
the PriceRunner.co.uk price comparison site reveals that 5 of them are
"HD ready" and 4 are "HD compatible".
It's not clear whether people are specifically searching for these models because they are high-def, but in any case, the majority of sought-after TVs are now at least capable of receiving HD content, even ithough the term "HD compatible" may well catch some consumers out.
Unsurprisingly, Samsung and Sony do very well, with mentions too for Pioneer, Hitachi, Toshiba, and Philips.
The top ten most searched models were:
- Samsung LE32R41BD (HD Compatible)
- Pioneer PDP-436XDE (HD Ready)
- Samsung LE40R51B (HD Ready)
- Hitachi 42PD7200 (HD Ready)
- Samsung LE26R41BD (HD Compatible)
- Sony KDLS40A12U (HD Ready)
- Sony KDLV40A12U (HD Ready)
- Toshiba 20WLT56 (NOT HDTV)
- Philips 32PF9830 (HD Compatible)
- Toshiba 32WL56 (HD Compatible)
Gary Goodman, Marketing Director at PriceRunner.co.uk said: “The move to HD technology is going to be as significant as the switch from black and white to colour TV was, back in 1967. We recommend that those looking to buy new TVs buy an HD ready model, to ensure they save money in the long term by avoiding having to upgrade. Using a price comparison site will ensure you get the best deal and TVs are actually the most searched for products on PriceRunner.co.uk.”
Well he would say that, wouldn't he?
