Netflix boss says next-gen DVD war is in stalemate
CEO of Netflix, the online DVD rentals firm, Reed Hastings takes the view that the Blu-ray/HD DVD format war is in stalemate, and the best thing that film studios pledging allegiance to one side or the other should begin releasing films for both formats from next year.
Despite the cost, this would restore consumer confidence in the whole charade.
I wonder how long studios that already back both formats will continue to do so? After all, the 80s VHS/Betamax war that many liken this to saw Betamax frozen out. No content - near-useless format.

Like many people, I'm going to hold off buying *any* kind of HD disc format until there's a clear winner. Perhaps by then, disc delivery will be dead in the water and it'll be all about downloadable HD content. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot...
