NVIDIA's CEO backs Blu-ray
Jen-Hsun Huang has publicly backed Sony's Blu-ray technology and its use in the PS3. Then he would, given that NVIDIA are supplying graphics processors for Sony, having jumped from Microsoft's Xbox.
The main points he made:
- You can't have a games console for the next ten years and not have Blu-ray. "It's an impossible scenario"
- Microsoft can't possibly be a DVD-only device by end of 2007.
- A next-gen console needs to last ten years, so has to have next-gen media.
Of course NVIDIA are going to back the company they now manufacture components for. Ultimately the consumer will decide if the PS3 and Blu-ray are a success or not.
