Pegasus Wireless, surely one of the grandfathers of wireless technology, is soon to release the WiJET.e Wireless Display Adapter and Multimedia Player, which can be used to make presentations and play movies wirelessly.
Of interest for HD use:
- ability to stream any DVD movie
- replicate a PC screen to multiple
- displays up to 2048x1536 resolution
- stream PC audio and video to remote displays and speakers
- video codecs supported include MPEG 1/2, MPEG 4, DivX, WMV, Sorensen
- supports Dolby 5.1 surround sound
PW say that it can handle up to six simultaneous data streams.
It should be available from around October, US price $399, and available from selected UK stockists.
There are plenty of other features about it, see the Pegasus Wireless website for more info.
I'm not convinced it's the best wireless streaming solution though it does have a fairly impressive feature list. I'd personally be inclined to wait until the 802.11n gizmos start gathering pace - more bandwidth is always welcome for HD apps, for one thing.
