Exclusive extras coming to HD releases
HD Beat has reported that certain movies released on HD DVD will feature exclusive extra content not available on the standard definition discs.
The biggest title set for release in Autumn/Winter will be "Mission Impossible III", from Paramount, with the extra footage all having been shot in high-defintion during filming, plus a special picture-in-picture video commentary with participation from director J J Abrams.
Other releases will include "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" from Universal and "Poseidon" from Warner. Warner will continue to push their "In Movie Experience" video commentary feature.
Whether this extra material will be enough to cause standard DVD player owners to make the upgrade is another matter. Surely that's the hope of the studios. We'll wait to see if it's worth it.
