Sky have rolled out some new software for their Sky HD boxes which claims to fix bugs, stability issues, the EPG, and fast-forward/rewind functionality, as reported by subscribers.
"Our technology teams have also been working on improvements and last week they downloaded a new version of the software to your box. To check whether you have the right version go the Services menu, select System Setup, then System Details. The model number should now read 607120," the team explained in a recent update.
Any Sky HD subscribers care to report if problems have been fixed with the update?

I initally never had any bugs or problems with my HD box but now my auto switching aspect mode no longer works. Thanks shy!
Since i had the update last week, i have not had any problems, but it has made a big improvement to the speed and stability of my box.
Aha! That's why my SkyHD box had reset one morning last week!
This is actually my second box, as my first one kept crashing and losing its EPG.
I can't really tell if the new-found stability is due to the new box or the new firmware, but I've not had any problems for a week or two.
I have the latest version (so I was told on 17/09/06) and it is still very un-reliable. The sound keeps going, channels show no picture. Recording programs ater midnight (?) don't ever stop recording. customer service very unhelpful. Everyone with Sky HD shold ask for a refund for months where it is not working. I've calculated based on Sky's claimed figures of 90,000 units shipped this will cost Sky £900,000 per month (£10.8m per year) this may make them test their software better!!!
Just looked and I have the new software but I aint seen no improvment ff and rew still not even close to my old pace sky+ box.
Pic quality is very good overall just a shame Pace didnt make the HD box.
I have 607120Q and it is very unstable both signal quality and strength are around 60 on the SKYHD that I got on launch day. I have tried the old SKY+ box and that reports 85% and a sat meter reports 91%. Constantly getting "No Signal" since the update on Sky Two, Three, UKGOLD** channels. I called SKY and they say its the box, they want £79 for an engineer visit to check the box then £150 for a refurb or £299 for a new SKYHD box (both 90day warrenty). Not impressed
