Hitachi will show off "the world's first" 42-inch 1080p plasma TV (I've put that in quotes just in case another manufacturer has already done it). They say it's a world first, though.
It's being premiered at the CEDIA EXPO in Denver this week, alongside a 60 inch full HD plasma screen.
Hitachi have used a number of original technologies including electrode sharing technology which delivers over 2 million pixels and 6 million individual lights, a 'slim-rib' feature enabling a wider aperture ratio, and a brightness of 1,000 cd/m2. They've also enhanced signal processing to give better greyscales and reduced picture noise.
"Hitachi's commitment to the flat panel HDTV business is especially notable when it comes to plasma, where we hold more than 1,300 related patents and own a majority share in one of the world's largest plasma facilities," said Daniel Lee, VP of marketing, Hitachi America.
