Evesham, always ready to tell us about their bargain equipment, has unveiled its range of low-cost high definition LCD TVs. The Alqemi range come in 3 sizes: 32 inch, 37 inch and 42 inch.
The Alqemi LCD TV 32INCHLCD5 is widescreen 16:9 ratio WXGA 1366x768 resolution screen with 1200:1 contrast ratio, 500cd/m2 brightness, and 178 degree all round viewing angle. It has an OK response rate of 8ms. There's one HDMI input. It doesn't specify what HD signals the TV accepts or displays, but it's likely to be 720p. It cost £499.
The 32-inch Evesham Alqemi SX LCD TV 32INCHLCD6 comes with a digital and analogue tuner. It has a few more features but is really just the previous model with added digital tuner. It cost £599.
The 37-inch Evesham Alqemi S LCD TV 37INCHLCD2 has a 1366x768 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 500cd/m2 brightness, 176 degree viewing angles, and 8ms response rate, and analogue/digital TV tuners. It costs £799.
The 42'' Evesham Alqemi SX LCD TV 42INCHLCD3 has the same features as the 37 inch TV, just a bigger screen. It costs £1399.
What's irritating is that Evesham don't clearly specify HD capabilities (720p / 1080i / p) so I can only assume a lower specification. The response rates aren't fantastic, and there's only one HDMI input.
