This is part 3 of SIM2's presentation at the BFI
Whilst the star of the show had to be SIM2's Grand Cinema HT5000, another contender for your living room has to be the Grand Cinema HT3000.
This is a single-chip DLP 1080p projector, featuring the 0.95" 1080p DLP chipset from Texas Instruments. It features a proprietary SIM2 ALPHA PATH light engine, new 7-segment colour wheel, 2 HDMI inputs, a contrast ratio of over 5000:1, and a 200W lamp.
It can throw an image from 50 to 300 inches diagonal. It has dynamic noise reduction, spatial noise reduction, and fleshtone regulation.
Not surprisingly, there was a notable difference in brightness between the HT3000 and HT5000, primarily because of the brightness of the bulb. Picture quality was still excellent, dependent upon the quality of the source, of course.
It's still not a cheap option, but a third of the price of the HT5000, with a suggested price of around £12,000.
