Sony have said that their advertising campaign for their range of high definition Bravia TVs is as much about educating the public about the benefits of high def content as it is about selling them a Sony TV.
Though some of them are a little weird, Sony do well at spending large amounts of money on staged adverts (bouncing balls, exploding paint, et al).
Of course, they're not shy about telling everyone that they're Sony, and you get colour...like...no...other... - but it's an interesting strategy. Maybe they hope to translate consumer knowledge into them buying all of Sony's HD hardware and movie offerings.
