Pioneer BDC-202 Blu-ray combo drive unveiled

Pioneer have released their BDC-202 Blu-ray 'combo' drive which allows full playback of Blu-ray discs on a PC, as well as full read/write capability on standard DVDs and CDs.

It can read Blu-ray single-layer media at up to 5x speed, and double-layer at up to 2x speed.

It sounds as if it will only be made available to OEMs and systems builders, so expect to see it in PCs (and Macs) from the second quarter of 2007 onwards.
