Slyck has posted an interview with muslix64, the developer of BackupHDDVD who has successfully cracked various aspects of both HD DVD and Blu-ray copy protection.
In it he says that he's just an 'upset customer' pursuing 'fair use enforcement':
With the HD-DVD, I wasn't able to play my movie on my non-HDCP HD monitor. Not being able to play a movie that I have paid for, because some executive in Hollywood decided I cannot, made me mad...
He talks about how he went about breaking through the weakest link of AACS, the differences between HD DVD and Blu-ray protection, and how the industry may react. It's a very detailed and interesting interview.
