Universal Studios have announced that they'll be releasing over 100 titles in the HD DVD format in 2007, made up from a collection of new and classic films and TV programmes.
January 18th saw the release of titles Brokeback Mountain, The Mummy Returns, The Jerk, and The Game.
Upcoming titles will include Children of Men, The Good Shepherd, Smokin' Aces, 40-Year-Old Virgin, Battlestar Galactica S1, Scarface, American Pie, Bourne Identity, Brazil, Bruce Almighty, Erin Brokovich, Liar, Meet the Fockers, Pride and Prejudice, and Shaun of the Dead.
Universal are the only Hollywood studio currently supporting only HD DVD.
It will be interesting to see how many people buy some of the classic movies on the high definition format, as I would imagine only those with a lot of money (who haven't blown it all on the player itself) will replace an existing DVD collection.
