Sony will introduce a new dual-format camera system aimed at studio production in small- to medium-sized broadcast environments.
The HDC-1400 operates at either 1080/59.94i or 720/59.94p, and includes features such as three-skin detail control, multi matrix colour control, and high-quality SD down conversion capability.
"The HDC-1400 system expands our line of flexible HD production tools for broadcasters," said Rob Willox, director of marketing for content creation at Sony Electronics.
Sony are also launching the HDVF-C35W viewfinder, compatible with a wide range of Sony HD systems. When using the new viewfinder, the camera's eye-piece can be removed, allowing for "direct viewing" through the unit itself. The viewfinder also features a re-designed inner loupe to reduce distortion in the corners of images and to increase viewing angles.
The camera is coming in May, priced around US$65,000, with the viewfinder coming in June priced around US$8,000.
