As part of their new BRAVIA branding drive, Sony unveiled seven new high definition TVs that all feature the Internet Video Link module.
The BRAVIA V-Series includes 1080p models in 40 and 46-inch screen sizes, and the S-series 720p-capable range comes in 26, 32, 40, and 46 inch models. Also available is the 32-inch KDL-32XBR4.
All sets feature the Technical Emmy award-winning Xross Media Bar user interface for enhanced navigation. The XMB menu system is that found on PSP and PS3 games consoles, and is an icon-based, on-screen menu system that helps easily navigate through programme selections from a variety of connected sources.
The addition of the BRAVIA Internet Video Link means that BRAVIA owners can now access Internet video content, including high definition, from providers such as AOL, Yahoo, Grouper, as well as Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony BMG Music.
The Internet Video Link module mounts on the back of compatible BRAVIA TVs and connects via the home broadband service.
The V-Series TVs all feature full 1080p resolution, Live Colour Creation with WCG-CCFL backlight, a 10-bit panel display hat increases the television’s gradation level by 64 times from 8-bit panels, and advanced picture processing with the BRAVIA Engine EX full digital video processing system. It also has BRAVIA Theatre Sync offering one-button synchronisation with external devices connected via HDMI.
The S-Series are 720p TVs, featuring the BRAVIA Engine full digital processing system and BRAVIA Theatre Sync on all models.
Models will begin shipping from spring and summer this year, prices and UK availability to be confirmed.
