Though details are sketchy, Tech Digest reports that Aldi, the UK budget supermarket (you know, "spend a little, live a lot") is to sell a 47-inch HD-ready LCD TV from 19th April.
No pictures, no price. What we know is that it will have an integrated Freeview tuner as well as analogue, 1600:1 contrast ratio, wide viewing angle (how wide? Dunno), 16.7 million colours, S-Video, PC, 2 x Scart and 2 x HDMI inputs, and a wall bracket. It will also feature child lock, automatic volume correction, Nicam stereo, auto tuning, picture in picture, and remote control.
No word on how high-def it really is, though I'd guess 720p and 1080i capable.
Oh, and Aldi don't deliver either.
Whether it will be a suitably budget affair we'll have to wait and see - full details won't emerge until a week before launch. We don't even know whether this is a limited edition, or who the original manufacturer is. So many questions. Might be worth keeping an eye on though... so we will.
More high definition TVs

I doubt any television from Aldi will be any good (although I could well eat my words as the £20 DVD yamada dvd player I brought was much better than my mates £150 Sony lol).
If they don't deliver that'll lose them a bunch of customer as I for one wouldn't be seen in Aldi with the giro wielding pikeys
The comments by T.V dude is a disgrace to the people of Britain. Let me tell T.V dude that every item from aldi i've bought has been top class and aldi respect their customers. Not like the shops T.V dude is used to.
