Arqiva's HD outside broadcast trucks play crucial role in first UK high definition football final

arqiva-ob-setup.jpgArqiva, who have done a three-year deal with Sky Sports to handle the outside broadcast requirements at key sporting events, have been boasting about their performance at the recent 2007 Carling Cup final between Chelsea and Arsenal.

Though other football matches have already been broadcast in high definition, this was the first UK football final to get the high-def treatment since Sky launched the service in May of last year.

Arqiva's two OB trucks, built to specification by Sony, are equipped with 20 HDC-1500 HD cameras, two HDC-3300 HD Super-Motion cameras, four HDCAM HDW-D2000/20 VTRs, one HDCAM SR SRW-5500 VTR, and an MVS-8000A Multi-Format Switcher.

"The exceptional picture quality HD offers enables Sky Sports HD viewers to have an even better experience which proves especially memorable in important games such as the Carling Cup Final – and this match proved to be a fantastic showpiece for HD," commented Mick Bass, Arqiva's MD.

As a bonus, Sky HD viewers would have been treated to an on-pitch boxing/wrestling match as well.

Joke.
