BBC Factual selects Panasonic DVCPRO HD standard for high definition programmes
From April 2007, all high definition programmes produced by the BBC Factual Studios will use Panasonic's AJ-HDX900 DVCPRO HD Camcorder as standard.
They'll also use other Panasonic equipment including the Varicam and AJ-HD1400/1200/1700 VTRs.
Editing will be done using Apple Final Cut Pro HD.
"We’ve developed a High Definition migration strategy for all programmes produced by BBC Factual Studios. This move is driven by commissioner’s likely requirements, with projected high-profile productions, as well as the need to create and build a library of HD stock footage," said John Attard, Head of Technology, BBC Factual Studios.
By the end of 2010, the Studio aims to shoot all programmes tapelessly in high definition.
