A new round of statistics shows that Blu-ray discs are outselling their HD DVD rivals by a ratio of 2:1 in the US.
That's according to figures from Nielsen VideoScan for the week ending 18th February.
Unsurprisingly, Nielsen note that the surge in Blu-ray sales began about two weeks after the US introduction of the PS3.
With Blu-ray sales in the UK outpacing HD DVD by 4 to 1 - of course what I meant to say was that HD DVD is outpacing Blu-ray by 4 to 1 in the UK. (I've got Blu-ray on the brain, evidently), but the launch of the PS3 could swing that statistic as it has done in the US.

I think you made a mistake.
Blu-ray isn't outselling HD-DVD 4to 1 in the UK. It's HD-DVD that is outselling Blu-ray 4 to 1. It says so in the article you linked.
Yep, you caught me.
But how many units are we actually talking about in Europe? The figures I've seen suggest that the figures are pitiful and that even a relatively poor launch day for the PS3 will cause the number of blu ray players to eclipse HD-DVD players by a factor of 10.
