Micron expands its CMOS image sensor range with a 5-megapixel high definition image sensor designed specifically for hybrid cameras able to take both HD footage and still images.
The sensor, which fits into a 1/2.5-inch optical format, can capture 720p video at 60 fps. It can also take 15 still photos in a rapid sequence.
Micron also introduce a HD video sensor that captures 60fps in 720p format, with excellent low noise performance, and is designed for use in consumer digital camcorders. The sensor works with long-range zoom lenses and uses Micron's 2.2-micron DigitalClarity pixel technology. It includes an additional pixel area for image stabilisation.
