Three cheers for National Geographic. Not only does it have more new HD content on a regular basis than its Discovery Channel rival, it’s now launched a spin off called Nat Geo Wild. And the even better news is that it’s also being shown in HD.
Focusing on the natural world, the new channel offers chances to see new or recent HD documentaries from National Geographic, such as the excellent Eye of the Leopard (from March 1), and this programme (debuting on March 2), which looks at the Iguaçu Waterfall in the South American rainforest.
Located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, the falls are comprised of up to 300 individual waterfalls over a 2.5km area. It’s estimated that enough water flows over its edges every day to supply London for a year (even with our leaky pipes). The documentary also shows the often elusive wildlife that populates this lush region, from the jaguar to the tapir, as well as noisy weaver birds.
