Sony has revealed its BRAVIA S3000-Series range of LCD high definition TVs.
The sets will initially be available in 40 and 32 inch sizes, with the line up extending to cover sizes from 20 to 46 inches in the autumn.
The TVs feature the BRAVIA ENGINE with a Wide Colour Gamut backlight and exactly matched filters on the screen, generating more colours than a normal LCD TV.
They have a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, Virtual Dolby Surround Sound, BBE ViVA™ technology, which ensures that the virtual central channel – usually the dialogue – remains perfectly clear and audible, and bass enhancement.
The TVs are HD Ready, though the spec sheet at present makes no mention of whether they're 720p, 1080i or 1080p capable (I suspect 720p). They also feature a DVB-T digital tuner, have three HDMI inputs and two SCART sockets.
Sony are also making a big deal of their one-touch BRAVIA Theatre Sync feature, working its way onto a wide variety of new BRAVIA products. This uses the HDMI connections to send control signals between the various units in a home theatre system, so it's then possible to press play on the BRAVIA BD/DVD player remote control and have all the other equipment correctly switch inputs and settings.
Prices and exact availability to be confirmed.

The panel resolution in these is 1366x768, so yes, they're 720p-centric.
