Hot on the heels of the HD-XE1 HD DVD player, Toshiba has announced that it is to release a third HD DVD player in Europe.
Based on the styling and feature set of Toshiba's first HD DVD player, the HD-E1, it will also output in 1080p high definition quality, including upscaling for lower resolution HD and SD sources to 1080p, and also upscaling of standard definition content to any of the three HD resolutions.
Features wise, the new HD-EP10 looks to be on the same level as the HD-E1, but with 1080p capability. The HD-XE1 is the current high-end, though the only apparent additional 'feature' (according to specifications currently available) is that connections are gold-plated.
The HD-EP10 will retail for around €699 (about £450), and be available from May.

Nice range of machines coming together there on the Toshiba/HD-DVD side of things.
This is something the BD really lack; all they have is the PS3, the other players are wildly over-priced and seriously under-spec'd.
