Toshiba also confirmed today that it was to bring the 57inch LCD set that it unveiled at CES in January, to the UK market. Set to launch towards the end of the year the Z3030 57inch LCD set will retail for around £3,500. The set will also be available as a 52incher too. Both boast a super slim finish, glossy black styling, deliver 1080p images supported by 100Hz processing and come with a trio of HDMI sockets all of which are HDMI 1.3 compatible.
The story here is that this new breed of HDMI is CEC compatible thereby enabling someone who has a series of CEC compatible devices to switch their TV, AV amp, high def recorder/player on etc with the flock of just one button.
Samsung and Sharp both have 57inch models available in the UK.
Here's a whizz through the new range of sets.

Congratulations to Toshiba on introducing the Z series to the UK ... but why do US buyers get an almost identical product 9 months earlier and at roughly 50% of the anticipated UK price? For example you can pick up the Toshiba 46LX177 in the US for around $2500 and the 42HL167 for around $1750? DO THE MATHS: that's about £1200 and £900 respectively! If you are reading this ... WELCOME TO RIP-OFF BRITAIN or if you are a retailer /manufacturer WELCOME TO TREASURE ISLAND!
