Toshiba has fired a pretty significant shot in the next generation DVD player war. Just days after Sony launched the PS3 massively increasing the installed number of Blu-ray players in the UK market, Tosh has sliced the price of its entry level HD DVD player, the HD-E1 to £349.
The key difference between the E1 and the other two models in Tosh's HD DVD range is that E1 only delivers 1080i images rather than 1080p.
Nevertheless when we looked at the model a few months back we were impressed by its picture quality and the way it upscales DVD to near high definition quality.
