Toshiba has just announced the first of its 2007 crop of REGZA LCD TVs. The REGZA C series boast a wide range of Toshiba technology to improve the picture and sound quality, including Active Vision LCD and SRS WOW audio technology.
The C series comes in 26, 32, 37, and 42-inch screen sizes.
Toshiba's Active Vision LCD picture-processing technology claims to reproduce three times more pixels and four times more colour tones than a conventional LCD TV, promising more lifelike pictures. The picture is further enhanced through dynamic contrast ratios ranging from 3,500:1 to 5,000:1, with a brightness of 500 cd/m2.
SRS WOW audio technology is delivered via s slim, discreet speaker system that runs along the bottom of the screen.
Other technologies include 3D digital comb filter and digital noise reduction.
All models come with an integrated Freeview digital tuner, two HDMI sockets, component video interface, and two SCART inputs.
The important issue of what HD signals it accepts and displays seems to be a bit of a mystery, as is often the way with pre-launch specifications. My best guess is that the 1366 x 768 resolution on all sets mean it will display a 720p picture, but whether it can handle 1080i/p inputs is another matter.
All sets except the 26 inch model should be available now (26 inch coming in July), prices to be confirmed.
