Despite some thinking that Microsoft are pulling an April Fools' joke (in March), Engadget reports that an Xbox 360 Elite limited edition Xbox could be on its way, after which its feature set will appear on the Premium Xbox.
Perhaps of most interest to those interested in watching high definition content is the likely inclusion of an HDMI output, plus a 120GB capacity hard drive.
An HD DVD drive would still be an add-on, suggesting either that Microsoft isn't sold on HD DVD becoming the dominant format, or (more likely) that they don't think, unlike Sony, that everyone wants a high definition gaming console and a high definition disc player rolled into one.
It would cost around US$479. The very limited edition version would be done out in black, with a new Premium incorporating these features coming in white thereafter.
We don't yet know (assuming this is even true) exactly when this might ship.
