The ongoing battle between crackers and content producers continues with the news that the Blu-ray Disc Association is to roll out BD-Plus, described as a more advanced copy protection technology.
Though as yet unused, and not proven, the BDA plans to bring forward its planned release to toughen up content protection by installing a small piece of encryption software on a Blu-ray player, with each disc having its own key.
Apparently, BD-Plus will add between seven and 28 days production time per title. 20th Century Fox is expected to be the first to release a BD+ infected encrypted title.
We all know that this won't protect titles for long, but neither side can be seen to be giving up.
