Epson has announced its new PowerLitee Home Cinema 1080, a full 3LCD high definition projector capable of showing 1080p content, and retailing for under US$3,000.
The company says that their projector has an advantage over single-chip projectors that claim to achieve 1080p by using moving mirrors, sequential colour, and virtual pixels. Epson achieve true 1080p resolution by using 1,920 x 1,080 pixels on each of the projector's three LCD chips.
The projector is fitted with the latest HDMI version 1.3 and supports Deep Colour. It boasts a wider range of black tones and up to 12,000:1 contrast ratio, and exclusive AccuCinema lens system that uses 14 lenses, including two aspherical lenses, to maintain quality of picture across the whole image.
It features a lens shift capability, up to 96 degrees vertical and 47 degrees horizontal. The body is finished in white.
Available in the US this month. UK availability to be confirmed.
