According to Video Business, the price of Blu-ray and HD DVD players will drop by 50% this year, with prices already falling faster than expected but at about the same rate as standard DVD players.
By 2009, players will be priced between $200 and $300 (about £125-£225) according to these predictions.
We've already heard that Sony and Toshiba are planning a price war, and started to see evidence of this, but of course, we want more.
From this prediction, it sounds as if Blu-ray players will always be more expensive than HD DVD players, presuming that both formats coexist for some time to come.
