Back in October we asked if laser TV was on the way, and now DailyTech reports that laser TV will be here within the year.
One of the main developers of laser TV technology is California-based Novalux Inc., who has promised that its products will deliver appreciable benefits over plasma, LCD, and CRT televisions.
Compared to plasma and LCD, laser TV technology can be produced for half the cost, has double the colour range, and consumes three-quarters the power - an important consideration for today's energy-efficient requirements.
Sony is definitely using Novalux technology in laser TV technology demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, and Mitsubishi may be.
“We now have over four design wins in laser TVs for four different brands that are scheduled for launch in 2008,” said Greg Niven, Vice President of Marketing at Novalux.
