"The thick plate of glass in my TV stand exploded violently in tiny little pieces. I was pretty surprised when it happened and quickly grabbed the video camera.
At the time of filming, I wasn't sure how the glass had managed to shatter so evenly with the shards launching themselves a considerable distance. Currently, I believe the event was caused by a high-frequency burst that came through the center channel speaker which was sitting on the plate of glass at the time.
The glass is very thick and I found shards of it up to 20 feet away in the foyer of my apartment. My condo unit has old faulty wiring that probably caused the high-frequency burst to occur. The noise of the crash was quite loud and intense but I didn't hear any sound from the speaker before the crash occurred. The amplifier was on and the Xbox 360 was the current input, but the sound was muted at the time.
What do you think caused the glass to explode?
