China invests in massive plasma panel factory, aims to become major world player
CCTV reports that China has begun building its first plasma display panel production factory in the south-western province of Sichuan.
Investing the equivalent of over two billion dollars, it will not only end the country's dependence on plasma imports, but will catapult it to fourth in the global plasma market, behind Panasonic, LG, and Samsung.
The factory will make six million PDPs every year, and Wu Yingjian, deputy GM of Sichuan Changhong Electric Company, said that it would make China far more competitive in the world market.
Potentially good news for consumers worldwide, and something for the other major players to think about.

Plasma TV will be out dated soon and LCD is the future. Plasma panel consumes much more energy than LCD. They realy should invest money in large LCD panels. This is another bad decision.
