Hitachi expect marketable 200GB Blu-ray disc by 2009

They're not the only company to be working on larger capacity optical discs — last year TDK were developing a 200GB Blu-ray disc — but now Hitachi reckon they'll have a 200GB high definition disc available to bring to market by 2009.

This will be made possible by accessing eight recording layers per single side of a disc.
